Global Group, Inc has acquired CostsMaster, the UK-based legal costs drafting software provider, for an undisclosed amount. The deal brings the costs management technology company under the ownership of the larger corporate group, which has not disclosed further terms of the transaction.
CostsMaster develops software for costs lawyers and solicitors, with its flagship product, CostsMaster Draftsman, used for preparing bills of costs and legal aid claims. The company also offers CostsMaster Quota, a budget management package designed for solicitors. Originally built by draftsmen seeking a more reliable method for bill preparation, the software has evolved over 15 years to include electronic bill formats and case plans, becoming a market leader in its niche.
The acquisition is strategic for Global Group, Inc as it expands its portfolio into the legal technology sector, specifically the costs management segment. With the growing involvement of solicitors in preparing costs budgets and N260 forms, CostsMaster had already broadened its offering with a stripped-back version tailored for that audience. Global Group, Inc’s ownership is expected to provide the resources and scale to accelerate that product development and extend its reach beyond the existing customer base.
For CostsMaster, joining Global Group, Inc offers access to a larger corporate infrastructure, which could support further innovation in bill and budget preparation tools. The combined entity will aim to strengthen its position in the legal costs software market, building on CostsMaster’s established reputation while leveraging Global Group, Inc’s broader operational capabilities. The transition is expected to proceed without disruption to existing users, as the product line remains intact under the new ownership.
