Cambridge Heavy Industries, an MIT spinout working on the fusion supply chain, has raised $6.2M in seed funding from Azolla Ventures.
The company is commercializing laser optics originally developed for high-pressure research. Its proprietary machine generates extreme pressure and temperature conditions to synthesize rare isotopes used in fusion reactors. Cambridge Heavy Industries is based at The Engine in Cambridge, MA, and says it is hiring in laser optics, materials, and mechanical engineering.
