A Sheffield-based startup aiming to eliminate guesswork in manufacturing has secured fresh capital. Productive Machines, which spun out of a decade of research at the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, has raised $1.7M from Finance Yorkshire.
The company’s autonomous, physics-based SenseNC® software simulates complex machining dynamics to optimize feed rates and spindle speeds. This technology, which an AMRC case study demonstrated could reduce cycle times by up to 50%, promises manufacturers improved tool life, better part quality, and increased production capacity across industries like aerospace and medical devices.
