Retension Pharmaceuticals has raised $45.0M to push forward a hypertension drug that works differently from the standard options. The company is developing RTN-001, a tissue-targeted PDE5 inhibitor designed to treat uncontrolled hypertension.
RTN-001 has been tested in more than 265 subjects across nine clinical trials, where it was well tolerated and showed a sustained, clinically significant effect on central and brachial blood pressure. The drug is a second-generation PDE5 inhibitor that preferentially distributes to cardiovascular tissues.
